Lab 1 - January 29th 2020

The following images were taken as apart of our first lab. We were experimenting with light. The first two were taken indoors by the windows in our classroom while the last two were taken outside in the courtyard in college.

 I really like how the light hits my subject (Lauren) in the two above images. I love the first image as she looks very powerful in it. I also love the second one as I caught her in pure happiness and told her to look at me while she was laughing at something someone said. It really makes the photo. Especially how the light hits her face, it is very cool.



The first image was taken just naturally while Lauren was at a 90-degree angle to the little amount of sun that was out. Again she was laughing and I asked her to look at me. The wind blowing her hair really adds to it too. In the second image, I was using a diffuser. I had my friend hold it up, we weren't too sure on how to fully use it yet but we were experimenting with it. The background is too bright but apart from that I think it's a nice image.

Product Photography Research

First Image: Image is from here . I picked this image as when I was looking up images to pick this caught my attention straight away! Personally, this image makes me want to go to the fridge and grab a can of coke. It just looks so desirable. This is why I picked the image as it is really a good example of product photography. It makes the consumer want to actually go and buy the item. I think it is the ice and the droplets on the can that make people crave it, they know by looking at it that it's ice-cold and that is the best way to drink one. I think the black background works really well with this image, it's so simple but really delivers the message. The lighting works very well too, the left-hand side of the can is more lit than the right. You can't see any reflection of the camera in the can too which is good. Studio Photography Lab 5th Feb 2020

This is the first picture I am adding as I really like how it turned out.  My ISO was set at 100, my aperture was set at f/4.5 and my shutter speed was set at 1/60. I had Manual flash on with 1/16. I really like the shadow behind Lauren as I think it really adds to the image. This was taken with the lights off and mostly the flash just lighting the image. Laurens t-shirt was reflective so I decided to use that. My ISO was set at 100, my aperture was set at f/4.8 and my shutter speed was set at 1/50. I put the flash compensation down to -3.0 I had full flash turned on, with TTL flash. I really like how the reflective writing came out but also how Lauren is looking down. It adds some emotion to the image. This was taken with the lights off and mostly the flash just lighting the image.
